Every mainstream "best video editor" list skips the question that decides everything for this audience: what does the license actually say about adult content? We read the EULA and terms for every editor ranked below. Three popular tools ban adult work in their terms outright (Wondershare Filmora, Descript, CyberLink PowerDirector), and CapCut prohibits pornographic content across its cloud services while taking a perpetual, transferable license to whatever you submit through them. The top of the ranking is clean: DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro's licenses claim no rights over your footage and contain no content clause, Adobe's current terms explicitly do not scan locally stored content, and VEGAS Pro and Lightworks carry no content restrictions at all.

The second question is where your rushes travel. Kdenlive and Shotcut are GPL software with no account, no activation and no telemetry; Resolve, Premiere, Final Cut, VEGAS and Lightworks all edit locally with varying license checks; Descript cannot work offline at all. The rankings weigh license safety and offline capability alongside capability, because an editor you are contractually barred from using is not a better editor. And free that is actually free, with no watermark: Resolve's free tier (exports up to Ultra HD), Kdenlive, and Shotcut.
