Final Cut Pro is Apple's professional NLE, Mac-only, one-time purchase ($299.99). Reborn from the controversial Final Cut Pro X rewrite in 2011 (the same one that fragmented the long-time professional FCP user base toward Premiere and DaVinci), the modern Final Cut Pro is fast, magnetic-timeline-based, and exceptionally well-tuned for Apple Silicon hardware.
What makes it competitive. Speed. On an Apple Silicon Mac, Final Cut Pro renders, scrubs, and exports faster than any competitor on equivalent hardware. The magnetic timeline (the controversial 2011 paradigm shift) is genuinely faster once learned, especially for shorter-form content. Audio tools, color tools, and effects all credible at professional grade.
Mac-only constraint. If you are not on Mac you cannot use it. If you do work with collaborators on other platforms, project-file interchange is harder than with Premiere. For solo Mac creators producing for self-controlled distribution, Final Cut is competitive; for collaborative or cross-platform-team workflows, Premiere is the safer default.
Adult-production specifics. No vendor friction; Final Cut Pro is software you buy and use, with no content policy. The same workflow considerations as any NLE: organize footage, sync audio, build the cut, color, audio mix, export. Standard adult-production practices apply.
License and offline reality. The Final Cut Pro license agreement contains no adult-content restriction and grants Apple no rights over your footage. One clause worth knowing for a business: individual licenses cover "personal, non-commercial use," while commercial operators are covered by the separate commercial-enterprise grant in the same agreement, so a studio is properly licensed, not squatting on a hobby license. An Apple Account is needed for purchase and updates, and Apple publishes no phone-home requirement beyond that. Alongside the $299.99 one-time purchase there is now an Apple Creator Studio subscription at $12.99 a month or $129 a year.
