Descript cannot be used for adult work, by its own terms and by its own architecture. The terms of service prohibit creating, uploading or otherwise using "any User Content or other material that... is illegal, defamatory, obscene, pornographic" in connection with the service, and the operative verbs include "create" and "use." There is no local mode to retreat to: Descript's own documentation says it "does not support offline editing," everything you cut syncs to their cloud, and the terms state your projects are automatically processed server-side.
The exposure is total. An adult producer on Descript has their whole project store on a server belonging to a company whose terms they are breaching, which reserves the right "to delete or block access to any User Content at any time and for any reason in its sole discretion" and to terminate accounts "with or without cause." That is not a risk profile, it is a countdown.
What it is actually for. Descript's transcript-driven editing is aimed at podcasts and talking-head video, priced from a watermarked free tier up through Creator at $35 a month ($24 billed annually), which is where 4K export starts. It expects 32GB RAM and a 6GB GPU for 4K work, plus a 50 Mbps connection, because the internet is part of the product.
Bottom line. Listed here so you do not learn this after uploading a library. Every serious alternative in this category runs locally; start with DaVinci Resolve or Kdenlive and see the editing software guide.
